This is Faith

Pre-school education

She is six years old and proudly a peacock because Faith attended preschool for three years and has just received her preschool diploma.

She has learnt arithmetic, writing and social skills in one of our pre-schools and is therefore well prepared for the next step in primary school.

But why exactly is Early childhood education so important?

Early childhood education in Africa: the key to the future

Why early childhood education is so important in Africa

Early childhood education plays a crucial role in Africa's future. The foundations for cognitive and social skills are laid in the first years of life. High-quality early childhood education programmes promote essential skills such as problem solving, communication and social interaction, which are of great importance for later educational success and life as a whole.

Equal opportunities through early childhood education

A central aspect of early childhood education is the promotion of equal opportunities. These programmes can mitigate socio-economic inequalities and reduce gender inequality by offering girls and boys equal educational and development opportunities from an early age. This is particularly important in regions where traditional gender roles restrict girls' access to education.

Equal starting conditions for disadvantaged children

Children from disadvantaged families benefit particularly from early childhood education programmes. These programmes offer equal starting conditions and prepare children better for school. This is an important step towards reducing socio-economic inequalities and creating a fairer society.

Long-term benefits for academic success and society

Studies show that children who take part in early childhood education programmes are better prepared for school, perform better at school and are more likely to complete school successfully. Early childhood education therefore lays the foundation for an educated, healthy and productive society.
