Opening of the school in Lusokho

During our last visit to Kenya, we opened a school in Lusokho.
It is an existing primary school with 800 pupils. The pre-school includes
another 120 pupils. The school had several mud huts as classrooms. These
were cleared and now there are 4 brand new classrooms. In addition there is a
administration building and a building for the teachers. Previously, they had to teach their lessons
outside under a tree. It all looks very well finished and painted
out. The school's results are very good. This is all the more remarkable when you
considering what a poor learning environment she found herself in. The opening was particularly
solemnly. We are very grateful to our German donors for their generous donations!

It had to remain a secret. I caught the train to Haarlem very early in the morning. There, our chairman and founder of the Kidshare Foundation, Hans van Driel, was to receive a royal honour. Mayor Jos Wienen praised Hans’s dedication and enthusiasm, which have made it possible for Kidshare to build 66 schools in several African countries.

What a celebration it was! Last month, we opened a new preschool with Kidshare in the far north of Uganda. A very poor area where children have no chance without good education. The parents had built a mud hut there. There, the children were taught on the ground in the dusty sand.
